The cast of Friends is reuniting to honour director James Burrows next month (Feb16).

Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer will appear in a TV special, which will be produced by actor Sean Hayes, who will also reunite the cast of his hit comedy Will and Grace for the tribute.

Burrows directed several episodes of Will and Grace and Friends, as well as Mike and Molly among other shows. He recently took charge of his 1,000th episode of TV.

He previously reunited with Kudrow on her show The Comeback and was honoured by Aniston in 2013.

Fans of Friends have been hoping for a scripted reunion for years but many of the actors are not keen on the idea.

"I think we're getting to the point where we're going to be friends with wheelchairs and colostomy bags," Aniston said in 2013. "I don't think so. I don't think it works on screen... (and) it would kill me to put any negative slant on people's memory of Friends."

"Dear lord, let it go people, we're not doing it," Cox said last year (15). "It's just not gonna happen... We have not really had a Friends reunion. We've gotten about 80 per cent there but there's always one person who flakes at the end."
Friends ran for 10 series from 1994 until 2004.
