Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – Brit Gareth Edwards directs this acclaimed spin-off to the Star Wars saga, set immediately before the events of the original movie, A New Hope (1977). Felicity Jones and Riz Ahmed lead a diverse cast in the biggest box-office hit of the last 12 months.

A Monster Calls – A moving fantasy adventure in which a schoolboy (Lewis MacDougall) whose mum is seriously ill summons help from a tree monster. Felicity Jones and Signourney Weaver play his mum and grandma, while Liam Neeson brings the monster to spectacular life.

Passengers – Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two of the passengers on a spaceship travelling to a far-off colony planet, who wake up 90 years too soon. Spectacular adventure also starring Michael Sheen.

Moana – Well-reviewed Disney animated adventure about the Polynesian chieftain’s daughter, Moana, who bravely crosses the ocean to enlist the demi-god Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) to help save her island.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – Eddie Redmayne stars as magizoologist Newt Scamander in this eye-popping New York-set adventure in JK Rowling’s Wizarding World. A huge hit in its 8th week on release.

Why Him? – Riotous comedy starring Bryan Cranston as an over-protective dad who forms a fierce rivalry with the geeky, socially awkward billionaire (James Franco) who is about to get engaged to his daughter (Zoey Deutch).

Monster Trucks – Family adventure from Chris Wedge, director of Ice Age. Lucas Till stars as a teenager who builds himself a monster truck, only to discover that Creech, a real monster who normally lives underground, has made the truck his home.

Ballerina – Animated tale of a girl who dreams of being a prima ballerina, dancing at the Grand Opera House, now in its 3rd week of release. Voice stars include Elle Fanning and Dane DeHaan.
