Ryan Seacrest had an embarrassing on-air moment on Wednesday (17May17) when he confused Jeffrey Tambor with the actor in Ghost.
The new co-host of Live! with Kelly and Ryan confused Transparent star Jeffrey with actor Vincent Schiavelli during his appearance on the daytime show.
As Seacrest introduced Tambor, who was on the show to promote his new book Are You Anybody?: A Memoir, the enthusiastic host gushed about the 72-year-old actor's career highlights, citing his "unforgettable" roles on The Larry Sanders Show, Arrested Development, and his fond memory of watching Tambor in movie Ghost as a child.
However, in an awkward moment, Tambor, who didn't appear in the hit 1990 movie, was forced to correct the veteran TV host.
“We talked about the things you have done and are doing, but to me, you’re the scary guy on the subway in Ghost,” Ryan gushed.
“Oh, this is horrible," Tambor said. “You’re gonna be embarrassed. That’s not me.”
The actor who starred in Ghost alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Patrick Swayze was the late Vincent Schiavelli – who died in 2005.
Thankfully the Arrested Development star saw the funny side of Ryan's error, and made light of the situation by asking the show's producers to put up an image of himself side-by-side with his lookalike Vincent.
