As the Sundance Film Festival comes to a close, Sundance Institute and Picturehouse Cinemas are delighted to announce that Sundance Film Festival: London will return to Picturehouse Central from 28 May to 31 May 2020.
Film fans can purchase Passes for the 2020 London event at Early Bird prices from today via picturehouses.com/sundance. The VIP Pass gives access to EVERY film and special event at the Festival, plus all parties, a Picturehouse Central Membership, a goodie bag and more. The Festival Pass guarantees access to the Festival’s films and special events, priority booking, access to the Picturehouse Central Members' Bar and discounts on food, drinks and snacks during the festival.
Picturehouse Central successfully hosted Sundance Film Festival: London for the fourth time last year from 30 May to 2 June 2019. The festival presented twelve feature films from Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, USA, including the UK gala screening of Late Night, alongside two short film programmes and four special events. The festival closed with the UK premiere of Penny Lane’s Hail Satan?.
Featuring international and UK premieres direct from the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the 2019 London edition continued to champion underrepresented voices and highlighted excellent work from a diverse range of storytellers.
Over 40 filmmakers and actors attended the festival to introduce their films and participate in audience Q&As, including Holliday Grainger and Alia Shawkat for Time Out Gala film Animals; Sam Claflin for Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale; and the cast of Shola Amoo’s The Last Tree. The Audience Favourite Award was presented to Lulu Wang for her foreign language feature, The Farewell.
The 2020 Sundance Film Festival, took place from 23 January to 2 February in Park City, Utah, USA, which included 128 features within the line-up -- highlighting work from 47 first-time filmmakers, with 42% of feature films directed by women, 34% by a filmmaker of colour and 14% by a filmmaker who identifies as LGBTQ+. The 2020 Sundance London programme will be announced in the spring.
