As part of Creative Skillset’s work in film, a further £275,000 is now available for organisations in UK film and VFX to support priority training and skills development.

Funds are available in priority areas as identified by industry:

• £50,000 for audience development programmes
• £150,000 for training supporting writers, producers and directors (creative talent development)
• £55,000 for programmes which will enable the development of innovative new business models and joint ventures (business innovation)
• £20,000 for the development of a two-day VFX training programme for tutors delivering VFX/computer animation higher education courses.

The deadline for applications is 22 August 2013.

Dan Simmons, Head of Film at Creative Skillset, said: “We have worked closely with industry and with the BFI to identify current training needs in film and VFX. These funds, alongside others made available throughout the year, will support the growth of a diverse talent pool across the UK.”

The funding is part of Creative Skillset’s new four-year film skills strategy which supports the BFI’s strategic priorities, outlined in its five-year strategy Film Forever.
