Bill Murray: Ghostbusters must be great

(Cover) - EN Movies - Bill Murray won’t commit to a Ghostbusters sequel unless it is “done well”.

The Hollywood star famously played a wisecracking professor who destroyed spooky creatures in the hit ‘80s movies Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II. Although there has been speculation about a sequel in the sci-fi franchise, Bill is reluctant to get involved until he is happy with the plotline.

“I won’t do it if it’s not done well. I recently realised Avengers Assemble is actually Ghostbusters, with all that backbiting and camaraderie,” he told British newspaper The Times.

Bill is currently promoting his new movie Moonrise Kingdom, which tells the story of two teenagers who fall in love and run away.

The 61-year-old star was attracted to the film, directed by Wes Anderson, because he had his own experience of love at an early age. Bill fell for a girl at school when he was around 12 and says the powerful emotions had a profound effect on him.

“Those experiences affected me a great deal. I had a big first love at that age. I mean, I had girlfriends from the time I was in kindergarten,” he smiled.

“But I fell deeply in love with a girl and she was in love with another guy at school. It baffled me that you could love someone so much and not get it back. That changed me in certain ways, which I’ve never been able to plumb. I stopped reading, and I used to read all day long. I just stopped and something changed in me and I don’t know how, but it’s affected what I’ve become.”
