Today, Saturday 22nd June, Smurfs fans around the world will once again join together to celebrate Global Smurfs Day and the birthday of Peyo (25.06.1928), the creator of the Smurfs, with a series of family fun and special events.

Some of the highlights include:

BRUSSELS & PARIS - a worldwide Smurf Ambassadors initiative where Veronique Culliford, Peyo’s daughter, will appoint Smurf Ambassadors from 28 different countries around the world in Brussels and then send them to Paris. The ambassadors will be dressed as Smurfs for the fun-filled ceremony before jumping aboard their Paris-bound Thalys train. In Paris, the Smurfed-up ambassadors will undertake a goodwill tour of the beautiful city.

LONDON – it’s festival season and Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush will host an amazing Smurfestival. The headline act will be iconic band Right Said Fred leading a giant sing-a-long to ‘I’m Too Smurfy’ at 4:00pm. Festival-goers will be Smurfed-up with blue face-paint, white Smurf hats and waving British flags.

DUBLIN – the iconic Ha’Penny Bridge will be Smurfed with thousands of blue flowers, a blue carpet and blue balloons; dressed and designed by Jenny Murphy, winner of Florist of the Year at last year’s Chelsea Flower Show. At sundown, blue lights will light up the River Liffey.

AMERICA - LOS ANGELES – Neil Patrick Harris, star of The Smurfs 2, will attend a Smurftastic family day at the Grove
