Sean Bean to play Snow White's father

Sean Bean will play the father of Snow White in a new version of the famous fairytale.

The British actor, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones, will star in the untitled movie, which was previously going under the name The Brothers Grimm: Snow White. Julia Roberts will play The Evil Queen, while The Social Network star Armie Hammer plays the Prince. The fairytale re-imagining will also star Lily Collins as Snow White.

Tarsem Singh's film will compete with a rival film, Snow White and the Huntsman – which stars Kristen Stewart as the heroine and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. Rupert Sanders will direct the latter movie.

It's not the first time Sean Bean has starred in a classic fairytale, he will also be seen as Smee in the upcoming Pan, which is a new version of the Peter Pan tale.
Both films should be released in 2012.
