Taylor Schilling was so thrilled about the script of Orange is the New Black she was completely unfazed by the nudity required.

The American actress stars in Netflix's smash hit show, about a woman who winds up in jail after her past catches up with her. Taylor plays the show's bisexual protagonist Piper Chapman, with the premise based on the real-life memoir of Piper Kerman.

"It was the opposite, I was so thrilled by the script, I was raring to go," she giggled to British newspaper Metro when asked if she had reservations about the nude scenes. "I did talk about the nudity with show creator Jenji Kohan but had faith in her vision of taking these risks to express the truth of the situation and this storyline clearly. It was not gratuitous."

Taylor also laughs off any notion that she has become a bisexual icon and says that she doesn't feel any responsibility playing the role.

"Oh God, I don't think so at all. I've never heard myself being called that," she smiled.

"I think Piper is just trying to figure out how to live her life and who she needs and who she loves and, you know, trying to get her footing."

Taylor's break out role came in 2009's Mercy, a TV series focusing on how three nurses dealt with their patients and personal lives.

Her big screen outings include Argo with Ben Affleck and The Lucky One with Zac Efron, but 29-year-old Taylor has often thought about giving up the acting game.

"I think about it all the time, I mean, not really, because there is not really anything else I can do to pay my rent," she mused. "At the end of the day, I really love acting - that way of expressing myself and sharing myself creatively seems to work for me but it's certainly not easy."
