Ruffalo: Hulk standalone being considered

Mark Ruffalo says a standalone Incredible Hulk movie is being entertained by executives.

The 46-year-old actor plays Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk in several Marvel films and he will next be seen portraying the superhuman character in 2015 release, The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Speculation is rife studio bosses are considering a Hulk spin-off starring Mark and the actor has confirmed the rumours are true.

"I think they are, for the first time, entertaining the idea of it," he told Digital Spy. "When we did The Avengers it was basically 'No!', and now there is some consideration for it.”

Marvel released The Incredible Hulk in 2008, a feature film that starred Edward Norton and Liv Tyler.

Should a similar title starring Mark get greenlit, the star is unsure how the project would move forward, as discussions are extremely nascent at this time.

"But there's still nothing definitive, not even a skeletal version of what it would be,” he explained. “I look forward to going down that road, if we could crack that nut."

Mark is currently filming Avengers: Age of Ultron, and according to the actor the original 2010 film isn’t even close to being as elaborate as the sequel.

“[Age of Ultron is] even bigger than last time, and it’s more complex and has more layers and a bit more arc,” the star told Total Film magazine recently, before noting he was also impressed by the special effects.

“I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers.”
