Robert Pattinson jokes he likes to “make friends jealous”.

The 28-year-old British actor shot to fame after starring in the Twilight series, but he has taken on much more mature film projects of late and is currently promoting The Rover, his new post-apocalyptic feature starring Guy Pearce.

And Robert laughs his foray into new creative domains is motivated by his loved ones.

“I just like doing stuff to make my friends jealous,” he quipped to MTV News.

Robert reveals he is honestly most committed to becoming a jack of all trades professionally.

The star is working on music and he’s also looking to get into theatre.

“I’m trying to write a play, which I’ve been trying to do for ages,” he detailed. “I think maybe in the next year, I’d like to direct it. Probably in London, but I’m not sure yet.”

Robert says he is undecided about starring in his own play.

And although he’s “100 percent” considering acting in a Broadway show, the thespian confesses choosing a production to be in has been a real challenge for him.

“I’m really, really starting to want to again, but I find it really difficult to find the right thing,” Robert explained.

Last month the actor’s purported pal Brady Corbet told UK newspaper The Sun fans will see Robert shift direction in his career in the not too distant future.

“He’s been busy producing his first album, which will be coming soon,” Brady said.

The album wouldn’t be Rob’s first time behind the mic. He also recorded two songs for the Twilight soundtrack: Never Think and Let Me Sign.

Rumours of an album from the actor surfaced earlier this year. A source told HollywoodLife.com some big names were working on the project.

“Last year, he started working with one of the top songwriters in the industry,” the insider said.
