Tarantino: I'm making The Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that The Hateful Eight will go ahead.

According to Deadline, the director announced at Comic-Con yesterday that he would proceed with the western, despite originally claiming it was a no-go after the script was leaked.

The website says the audience erupted into cheers when Quentin made the announcement.

IMDB currently has the release date scheduled for next year, with Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Dern as part of the cast.

The filmmaker was at Comic-Con to speak about his Django Unchained-Zorro crossover comic. He revealed how he came up with the idea.

“I loved this idea, not only because I like western comics in general, but I also loved Zorro in all his iterations whether it was the Disney series or the William Witney films. I thought it was a great idea of taking the most famous, fictional Mexican western hero and putting him together with the newer, famous black western hero,” he explained.

“I don’t want to make a ton of Django movies so this offered me a chance to keep control of the mythology, but to tell different stories."

The 51-year-old spoke out when the screenplay was leaked earlier this year. He even filed a lawsuit about the incident, but it was ruled no copyright infringement took place.

"I'm very, very depressed," he said at the time. "I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out."
