Production company Movie Mogul (PANIC BUTTON, SHORTCUTS TO HELL) have taken to equity crowdfunding website Seedrs.com in a bid to raise £25,000 towards the post-production of their next film; supernatural horror thriller THE SLEEPING ROOM, which will go into production by the end of the year.

Unlike Kickstarter's model of pledging in return for perks, Seedrs backers receive a share of equity in the production, starting from just £10.

THE SLEEPING ROOM, a supernatural tale of Victorian revenge, is the first UK film to pilot this innovative method of fundraising.

The director, John Shackleton, said today: “It's very exciting to be at the forefront of this new wave of fundraising for films, and it's great to be able to offer actual equity to our supporters. Now almost anybody can be a film investor, and so it's only right that our backers should share in any financial success that stems from our production."

Set in present day Brighton, THE SLEEPING ROOM is the story of a call girl who searches for escape in all the wrong places. Falling for a client who reveals himself to be more than first meets the eye, she becomes imprisoned in his apartment by physical and supernatural forces. Nobody escapes unless a score for a heinous crime from the past is settled.

The production stars Leila Mimmack (BECOMING HUMAN) and Julie Graham (TOWER BLOCK).

Filming will commence in Dec 2013 on locations in and around Brighton. Full production details will be announced soon.
