Kelsey Grammer welcomes son

Kelsey Grammer has become a father again.

The 59-year-old actor and his wife Kayte welcomed their second child, a son, into the world on Tuesday. He weighed in at 8lbs. 20oz and was born in Los Angeles at 8.28am.

"Our son will be called Gabriel as there is a tradition in our family of going by our middle names," Kelsey, whose full name is Allen Kelsey Grammer, told ET.

"We are blessed and excited to have this lovely young man join our family - he is magnificent!"

The couple got married in February 2011 and already have two-year-old daughter Faith Evangeline Elisa together. The actor has four children from other relationships.

ET also has two pictures of the new arrival. In one Kayte is seen cradling her son in what appears to be a hospital bed, while in the other Kelsey holds Gabriel in one arm with Faith smiling as she looks into her brothers' face from her dad's other arm.

Kelsey has made no secret of his desire to have a large family with Kayte. In 2012 he admitted wanting more children with his wife, explaining he felt he learnt a lot about parenting over the years.

"I think we'll have at least two more, if not three or four. I think it's a great way to live a life," he told Access Hollywood.

"I think I'm more available than I had been previously. I'm there, more present with the child... We don't have nannies and stuff like that. I'm doing it all. I'm doing a lot of the changing [of diapers]."
