Universal Pictures (UK) is proud to announce that the outrageous Irish comedy Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’ Movie has enjoyed sales figures of 315,981 across Blu-ray, DVD and digital download in its first week of release, in the UK.
After going head- to-head with the release of box office smash Godzilla, the Mammy reigned supreme, knocking the blockbuster out of the water and selling almost double the amount across home entertainment platforms – leaving the famous beast far behind in the sales chart. It seems that the fans have well and truly spoken in this battle of Mammy vs Monster!
Brendan O'Carroll, the writer and star of Mrs. Brown’s Boys, said of this accomplishment, “I’m always surprised, to this day, about how much people love the show and have embraced it into their lives and their homes. We never take it for granted and always just aim to make the audience and fans laugh out loud in everything we do.”
Written by and starring Irish Comedian Brendan O'Carroll, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie is the feature-length adaptation of the multi-award-winning international comedy phenomenon Mrs. Brown’s Boys. The film features the well-loved cast from the television series, consisting largely of Brendan’s own family and friends.
The UK’s number one TV franchise has become a nation’s favourite since its first airing in 2011, growing year on year, including the most recent, Mrs Brown’s Boys More Christmas Crackers, which was watched on TV by 11.9million viewers last Christmas.
The latest release which will be added to this ever growing collection is Mrs. Brown’s Boys Live Tour – For the Love of Mrs. Brown, which will be available for digital download from 10th November and on Blu-rayTM and DVD from 17th November. The Live Tour in itself has been seen by over 1 million lucky ticket holders. This mammy and her hapless but loveable family have become a comedy phenomenon and show no signs of stopping.
The full range of Mrs. Brown’s Boys releases are available to own on DVD, Blu-rayTM and digital download now.
