Sienna Miller is eager to make her name as a Hollywood leading lady.

The British actress' stock has risen dramatically in the last couple of years, thanks to her memorable turn as Taya Renae Kyle opposite Bradley Cooper in American Sniper as well as gangster's moll Emma Gould in Ben Affleck's newly released Live By Night.

And with her success in supporting parts, the 35-year-old is now ready to take on more principal roles.

"I think I'm ready to play a lead role now," she told The Sydney Morning Herald, making no effort to disguise her hunger to take on more challenging characters.

"It's always an uphill struggle. There are very few great roles and many great actresses, and to be in that conversation is great. I think I'm on the list, for sure, which is fantastic, but I know that there are a few people who are ahead of me on the list. There aren't many great roles for women and it's a bit of a feeding frenzy when it comes about."

While Sienna has been offered many decent scripts since she finished filming Live By Night, she claims nothing has really inspired her enough to draw her away from her daughter. Sienna and her former beau Tom Sturridge live together in New York with four-year-old Marlowe.

"My daughter's started school and I haven't shot a movie since I finished this a year ago and I'm slightly climbing the walls," she added. "Now I want to do something, really badly."

With her move to the U.S., Sienna is pleased to find that people are more interested in her work than her personal life. And she no longer feels as if she is the subject of intense gossip that she encountered in the early 2000s when she was in relationships with Jude Law and Balthazar Getty.

"I definitely feel like I'm in a place now where people are more focused on my career than on my private life and clothes, which is refreshing," smiled Sienna. "There's not the same drama around me that there (once) was."
