Fran Drescher is more than happy with the "friends with benefits" arrangement she and her pal have.

The Nanny star spoke about her relationship status at the NBCUniversal New York press junket on Thursday, insisting she's "not dating" but has a set-up to ensure her needs are being met.

"I have my gay ex-husband who I love and he fulfils a lot of needs," the 62-year-old explained, reported the New York Post's gossip column Page Six. "I have someone on the side who is a friend with benefits."

Explaining further about the arrangement she has with the mystery man, Fran said their hectic travelling schedules mean they don't see each other that much, but when they do - around twice a month - it's "more than enough".

"(We're) very comfortable with each other and we have our routine," she said. "It's always the same experience. We really don't go out, we don't go to restaurants, we don't date. What we do, we do great.

"He comes over, we hang out and we do the hot tub and I make us some food and we lay in bed and maybe we'll watch tennis together, whatever it is or a movie. We talk; we have good conversations."

And answering the question on everyone's lips, Fran quipped: "Of course we have sex, and it's delightful and it keeps me going."

Fran was previously married to her producing partner Peter Marc Jacobson for 21 years until their divorce in 1999. He later revealed he is gay, and the former couple has remained close.

She was also informally wed to Shiva Ayyadurai for two years before their 2016 divorce.
