Dame Kelly Holmes attended the BFI Flare London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival today at the BFI Southbank. Dame Kelly, along with special guests Susan Wokoma, Douglas Booth and Bel Powley, attended the screening of Irish comedy-drama FOUR MOTHERS starring James McArdle who was also in attendance. The festival, which is the largest LGBTQIA+ film festival in Europe, takes place from 19 – 30 March at BFI Southbank also features the World Premiere of SOLERS UNITED, which Dame Kelly Holmes Executive Produced.

FOUR MOTHERS is a heartwarming comedy-drama that follows a struggling writer juggling four very different mothers during a chaotic weekend, after his friends unexpectedly leave them in his care. The funny and charming film is directed by Darren Thornton, co-written with his brother Colin Thornton. The critically acclaimed film stars James McArdle (Mary Queen of Scots, Mare of Easttown, Ammonite), Fionnula Flanagan (The Guard, The Others, Waking Ned Devine), Dearbhla Molloy (Nominated for Olivier Award, The Ferryman) Paddy Glynn and Stella McCusker.


FOUR MOTHERS screened in Official Competition at the BFI London Film Festival, winning the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature and screened at BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival on 26th March before being released in UK and Irish cinemas on 4 April 2025.

DAME KELLY HOLMES is the Executive Producer of short comedy film SOLERS UNITED premiering at BFI FLARE on 29th March. Directed by Sara Harrak and starring BAFTA nominated Leah Harvey, SOLERS UNITED follows a queer womxn’s football team in East London, choc-a-bloc with crushes, clashes and nail-biting matches.
