Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s Paradox is a mouthful of a title serves as a portent for this convoluted tale of time travel and theoretical/philosophical complications.

Bored physicist Tim (Samuel Dunning) muses what would happen if he went back in time for one minute, and shot himself? What would become of the paradox that he must survive to become his killer?

Tim does this on several occasions that eventually leads to there being multiple Tims (and a quick lesson in the ancient Greek alphabet). They each turn out to be as arrogant as the other deciding to swan off in different directions that includes a weird orgy.

Meanwhile he’s being chased by criminals for stealing the nuclear materials that time machine that caused all this. This results in a tiresome running gag with the killer Helter (Stimson Snead) gradually getting more and more frustrated leading to the welcome introduction of Danny Trejo to try and finish the job.

Its very complicated and wordy with very little of it providing any actual entertainment. The comedy aspects don’t work. Its as if it’s there as a relief to those who can’t be bothered with the science and philosophy or take much notice the word salads that writer and director Stimson Snead regularly lobs in.

The film is unrelenting and at close to two hours quickly becomes wearisome. Welcome cameos from SC-FI/fantasy stalwarts Trejo and Felicia Day ground it a little but can’t save it.

The main issue here is that Travers is totally unlikable in any of his various selves. There’s is no engagement with this character at all. All credit however to Dunning for making a decent fist of what must have been an exhausting shoot.

Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s Paradox will be on digital platforms from 26 January 2026.
